Intake Valve

  • The intake valve is located in the cylinder head of internal combustion engine,
  • Its main function is to let air in to the engine cylinders. The intake valve opens when the piston reaches the top dead center (TDC) and compressed air from the high-pressure tank rapidly flows into the cylinder
  • The pressure inside the cylinder rapidly increasestotheintakepressureand compressed air no longer flows into the cylinder when the intake valve is closed
  • the intake valves are made of an alloy called Sil 1 that contains 8.5 percent chromium. However, the type of material you should choose depends on the application and temperatures
