Head of the Department : Prof:  (Dr.) Sajeev G P

The Department started functioning in the year 1999 offering a B.Tech Degree course in Electronics and Communication Engineering with an intake of 60. Currently the intake for the B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering course is 120 with an additional intake of 12 students through lateral entry scheme in the third semester. The M.Tech Programme in Communication Engineering and Signal Processing started in the year 2011 with an intake of 18 students. Both B.Tech and M.Tech courses are affiliated to Kannur University till 2014 admission.  The courses are affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Kerala Technological University from 2015 admission onwards.

The faculty and staff members are well qualified and trained in various disciplines of Electronics and Communication Engineering and capable of meeting the curricular and co-curricular requirements of students. Well-equipped laboratories with state of the art instruments are functioning under the department. Department offers Wi-Fi connectivity to faculty, students and staff members.  Online video courses, online journals etc.  are accessible to the students, staff and faculty members of the department. Department offers various training programs to the students to cater the needs of the industry. The department has a very good advisory system, class committee and PTA which helps in maintaining student -teacher-parent relationship.  The faculty strength is 25 comprising of Two Professors, six  Associate Professor and seventeen Assistant Professors. Technical staff strength is 10.

LOGIC CIRCUIT DESIGN LAB

Students are trained in the design and analysis of various combinational and sequential digital circuits. This lab is equipped with Digital IC Trainer kits, Digital Storage Oscilloscope, Cathode Ray Tube, Universal IC Tester and DC Power Supplies.

DEPARTMENTAL COMPUTER CENTRE

The laboratory is equipped with 30 desktop computers and the related accessories like printer, scanner, multimedia projector etc. Students develop their computer proficiency using the various technical computing and simulation software installed in the lab. Students and Staffs can access service of center to cater the academic and professional needs.

ANALOG INTEGRATED CIRCUITS LAB

This lab offers experiments to understand the characteristics of operational amplifiers. Also students are trained in the design and analysis of various wave form generators using operation amplifiers

DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING LAB

This lab offers experiments on implementation of various signal processing algorithms. Further students  are exposed to real time DSP implementation platforms.

COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING LAB

ELECTRONICS CIRCUIT LAB

Students are exposed to the characteristics of various discrete electronics components and design and analysis of circuits using these components. This lab is equipped with sophisticated Digital Storage Oscilloscope, Cathode Ray Tube, Function Generators and Power Supplies.

DEPARTMENT LIBRARY

In addition to the Central Library, Electronics & Communication Engineering department has a separate library which offers its services to students, Faculty and Staff members. It has a stock of 836 books. The library is open from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm. Back volumes of  Seminar and project reports undertaken by the students are available.

SEMINAR HALL

The department owns a well-equipped seminar hall for conducting various departmental activities. Seating capacity is 120.

Program Outcomes – POs

PO1.  Engineering knowledge:  Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science and the fundamentals  of  Electronics and Communication Engineering to the solution of complex engineering problems.

PO2.  Problem analysis:  Identify, formulate, refer literature and analyze complex engineering problems reaching appropriate conclusions using first principles of mathematics and engineering sciences.

PO3.  Design/Development of solutions:  Compose solutions for complex engineering problems and develop system components or processes that meet the specified needs of societal and environmental considerations including public health and safety.

PO4.  Conduct investigations of complex problems:  Use research-based knowledge and innovative methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data and synthesis of information to provide valid conclusions.
